Outside of mechanical issues, requests to repair leaking hot tubs are the most common repair calls we receive. At Spa Repair Northwest, our leak diagnosis starts with a standard diagnostic fee of $189.95. The diagnostic fee includes the trip charge and the first 30 minutes of diagnosis. In some situations, the source of the leak can de definitively located and addressed within the initial diagnostic period. Examples of leaks that can be remedied quickly include pumps, heaters, pump and heater gaskets, ozone systems including check valves, and any other leak that is visible from the equipment bay. In this case, we will provide you with an estimate for repairs before moving forward. If you decide not to proceed with additional diagnosis time or repairs after the initial diagnosis you will only be billed the standard $189.95.

If no leaks are present in the equipment bay further diagnosis is required. We will always get authorization for additional diagnostic labor before proceeding. If your tub is constructed with full-foam insulation we will need to remove the siding for access and remove the foam to locate the leak. We may also need to put dye in the water to assist in the process. Once we locate the leak we will do the same as above and provide a repair estimate before moving forward.

Leak repair costs vary depending on location and the amount of time required to assess and repair. In a best-case scenario, basic leaks that are accessible inside your equipment bay can cost as little as $200 to repair. In a worst-case scenario, the cost to repair an in foam leak that requires digging of foam and the spa to be tipped on its side can exceed $2000 as re-foaming the repair location and rebuilding the cabinet will be required. We do our best within the initial 30-minute diagnostic period to give customers an idea of what end of the price spectrum they are looking at based on the specific situation. Keep in mind before authorizing a major leak repair that other leaks may start down the road.

After completing a major repair on a leaking hot tub we will have you fill the spa and run it at temperature for a minimum period of 4 days. When we return to foam in the spa and rebuild the cabinet we will verify that no other leaks are present in the exposed areas. If the exposed areas are dry and you have not experienced any additional water loss we will proceed with the re-foam and rebuild of the cabinet.
